Car Hire Marble Arch Sunday Morning

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

I am an american visiting London and was walking around the Marble Arch, King Cross area at 09:00am on Sunday morning. I did a search at google.com for car hire central London on my iPhone. I called the Tipoa Car Hire telephone number and was told that I had to use the internet to make a reservation. I made it clear I wanted a car now and I was only on a mobile phone, but they repeated, it was the only way to make a reservation with them. Nevertheless, I did go to their website and in fact i downloaded their FREE iPhone / iPad APP. I found this free APP very useful as it pin-pointed precisely on the map where I was, which was great as I wasn't sure how far I had walked and where the nearest rental car locations where. Cut a long story short I made a reservation to collect a car at Marble Arch in one hour's time (10:00 am) and drop the car at Bristol Airport, 4 days later. Including the one-way fee, I was charged €184, which i thought wasn't bad as a one-way British Rail ( Great Western) train ticket was €75. On this occasion and my first booking, I was super impressed with Tipoa Car Hire..

What did you do in 2012?

Why not visit some of the locations that made history last year, this year!

SEOUL

The music video Gangnam Style from South Korean PSY has been viewed over 1.5 billion times on You Tube and it is the site's most watched video of all time. PSY Summer Stand Live Concert  in Jamsil Stadium in Seoul was amazing.

NEW YORK

Hurricane Sandy struck with a vengeance on Oct. 29, 2012, causing unprecedented destruction as 80 mph winds and record storm surges wreaked havoc across the East Coast, destroying homes, leaving millions without power and claiming the lives of more than 90 people in the U.S. Many of the famous New York yellow taxis were submerged in floodwaters in the wake of superstorm Sandy.

It began by tearing through the Caribbean, making landfall at Jamaica on Oct. 24.

TIKAL

The Mayan's interpretation of history is embedded in their calendar, completed by priest-astronomers in the year 1479 and carved into the Aztec-Mayan sunstone. The Mayan calendar details long passages of time, including mathematical calculations so accurate that modern astronomers are at a loss to understand how a traditional people could arrive at them.

The Mayan fire ceremony held at dawn in Tikal on 21 December 2012, took place in the main plaza in front of the Temple of the Great Jaguar.

STRATOSPHERE

Felix Baumgartner stood alone at the edge of space, poised in the open doorway of a capsule suspended above Earth and wondering if he would make it back alive. Twenty four miles below him, millions of people were right there with him, watching on the Internet and marvelling at the wonder of the moment.

A second later, he stepped off the capsule and barrelled toward the New Mexico desert as a tiny white speck against a darkly-tinted sky.

LONDON

If Yorkshire was a country, as some of its more fanatical supporters might prefer, it would have finished 15th in the London 2012 medal table, just behind New Zealand but ahead of sporting giants South Africa, Spain and Brazil.

The London Olympics have left us with some incredible memories, and as the dust settles on what was a successful Games, it's time to look to Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Double celebration for BA at London City Airport

There’s a double celebration at London City Airport this week as British Airways achieves record passenger numbers and takes delivery of the last aircraft in the new fleet. The new fleet has helped the airline to carry more than 100,000 customers at the Docklands airport in June – the first time this milestone has been broken in a single month.

Meanwhile, the latest addition to the British Airways fleet at London City, an Embraer 190 aircraft, flew into operation last week.
The aircraft, registration G-LCYP, is the final aircraft to be delivered to wholly owned British Airways subsidiary BA CityFlyer under the current order.
The airline now has seven 98-seat Embraer 190s and six 76-seat Embraer 170s, making it one of the youngest aircraft fleets in the industry.

The aircraft was delivered from Brazil last week and operated its first commercial flight on Thursday on the London City to Edinburgh service.
It will operate on all the British Airways European routes from London City, including the new services to Malaga and Faro which began last month.
Luke Hayhoe, BA CityFlyer general manager commercial said: “We are delighted with the response we have had to the new aircraft fleet, our customer feedback is the highest it’s ever been in terms of comfort and service on board the aircraft. The fact customers are so positive is obviously reflected in the fantastic passengers numbers we’ve had for June.

“The original order was for a fleet of 11 aircraft but we converted two further options and as a result have been able to launch a number of new routes from London City in the past year.”
